This practical course provides an introduction to rigid endoscopy including an overview of rhinoscopy, urethrocystoscopy, otoscopy, thoracoscopy, laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery. There will be a brief overview of instrumentation and techniques in human surgery before moving onto the range of minimally invasive techniques performed in veterinary surgery including the advantages and disadvantages of these techniques. Basic instrumentation required for your practice caseload will be covered in detail as well as care, cleaning and sterilisation of it. The day will also include a discussion of the benefits of incorporating minimally invasive surgery into your repertoire, both financially and clinically. Theory-based lecture sessions will be followed by a practical dry lab session with laparoscopic trainers enabling delegates to practice techniques already discussed and become familiar with the appropriate instrumentation.
